Tell us a little about yourself!

nn

Ooh… what to say? I’m a writer and editor who’s been doing that work full-time for both companies and authors since 2004. Prior to that, I earned a lit major degree, then a master’s in teaching, which means I love talking about books and writing. And I’m also Italian, which means I can make a mean tomato sauce in a pinch. (Pro tip: My family actually calls that gravy. And we call it macaroni, not pasta. LOL)

nn

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

nn

I have two cats that I adore playing with and taking pictures of. I also like hanging out with my husband, though I do take more pictures of the cats. LOL. And seriously, I enjoy gardening and walking in the park and people watching and traveling to places I haven’t been.

nn

What do you enjoy about helping authors on their publishing journey?

nn

There are so many people out there who have dreams of writing books, and it’s always interesting to see what stories they want to tell and why they’re motivated to write. Creating a book is no easy task, but it’s a lot easier when you have people on the journey with you. I get to be that person a lot of the time, and I love doing it. Plus, it’s satisfying to give people input and encouragement that helps them achieve their goal to complete a book they’re proud of. What a gift and privilege that is.

nn

Do you have any literary pet peeves?

nn

I’m pretty laid back, and will let writers have plenty of leeway in how they approach their storytelling. The one thing that really drives me crazy is head-hopping. I can’t stand when we’re flitting back and forth in the heads of multiple characters in the same scene. It gives me whiplash.

nn

What are some of your favorite authors, and why?

nn

Honestly, as a lit major, I’ve learned to appreciate different authors for different things they bring to the table. So, I have lots of favorites.

nn

For odd characters and family drama tied deeply to cultural aspects, no one beats Faulkner. I love Nalini Singh for her ability to weave paranormal romance elements into an overarching series arc. I’m a big Lord of the Rings fan, and love just about any fantasy author you can send my way. And Hamlet is one of my faves too. You can’t go wrong with Shakespeare.

nn

Anything else you’d like our authors to know about you?

nn

I love brainstorming and figuring out creative solutions. So, if you want an editor who will work with you to problem-solve, I’m your gal.
